Apology unaccepted.
Observation – when I make a mistake at work I always feel the need to apologize. Often my mistakes are benign (re: forgetting to attach a document in an email) and do not warrant an elaborate “I’m sorry”; however, I feel compelled to say something anyway. When my male colleagues make mistakes, they just fix it. No apologies, no excuses. I do not have a profound interpretation of this observation but it is interesting. So the next time you find yourself begging for forgiveness when you’re one copy short in a meeting, just bite your tongue and run to the copier.
